Supreme Court of Pakistan has asked Higher Education Commission (HEC) to verify the authenticity of degree of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Ghulam Sarwar Khan. A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has also issued notice to MNA Ghulam Sarwar Khan.
The petitioner who has filed this case accused Ghulam Sarwar of using diploma of a resident of Faisalabad to obtain BA degree. Ghulam Sarwar has rejected this allehation and has said that he has no issue if Supreme Court want to verify his educational documents. Apex court has also directed HEC to verify degrees of Malik Nawaz, Maiza Hamid , Makhdoom Ali Raza, Iftikhar Gilani, Nadir Magsi and Zeb Jafar.
Ghulam Sarwar joined Tehreek-e-Insaf in late 2011 and in 11th May General Elections defeated PML-N stalwart – Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on NA-53 seat. Ghulam Sarwar Khan has also remained associated with Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) in the past. Before recent General Elections Chaudhry Nisar has never lost on this NA-53 seat.
